Step Up #5: Leading through uncertainty and managing your team virtually

Leadership, more art...less science

Our workplaces have been evolving but then, with little notice, leaders needed to shift their focus and respond to the unknown. We have been challenged with managing a remote workforce, for some organisations this had never been done before.

How have leaders paused in the midst of ‘‘reactions” and asked some questions, not only about today, but also how to prepare for the near and mid-term future.

Join Angi Bissell from PwC as she unpacks how to lead through these uncertain times and in particular some guidelines around managing virtual teams. This is a good time to become clearer about your own values, to put empathy and care front and centre and think about the kind of leader you want to be:

  • What impact am I having on my people?
  • Am I visible to them in the way that is important to them?
  • Am I being honest about what I know and don’t know, and telling them that?
  • Am I asking their view and (most importantly) hearing what they say?
