Our History
WiT was founded in 1997 with the support of just 10 women. The association has now grown to a membership of over 350 women and men and over 1200 affiliates.
In 2002 the association changed its name to Women in Technology; recognising the relationship between IT and emerging technology fields such as science and engineering.
In 2005 WiT launched the Biotech and Infotech chapters, separate streams established to cater to the needs of the organisation's increasingly diverse membership. WiT delivers a range of programs for women of all career levels whether they are starting out or looking to extend themselves at a more senior level.
WiT is an icon in the industry to many women and represents the interests of all women in the fields of Information Technology and Biotechnology.
