Getting Back to IT Program
Government Funded
Getting Back to IT is a project funded by the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation through the Information Industries Bureau Career Start Program.
In addition to the pressing need to attract more young people (especially young women) to the ICT industry there is a desperate need to access employees with relevant business and managerial expertise and many other transferable skills. The industry is also losing many women with exceptional ICT skills.
Getting Back to IT addresses these issues through the provision of advisory and support services that facilitate the development of successful long-term career strategies.
The progam will:
- Assist you to develop an effective career start (job search) strategy
- Assist you to develop an ongoing career development plan
- Partner you with a mentor
Workshops & Proposed Dates:
WiT has to take into consideration the fact that many participants are likely to have families and will need to co-ordinate participation around child care arrangements. The combination of multiple shorter workshops into a single one day format on a weekend would appear to be the most convenient option for women in these circumstances; however, once candidates have been registered WiT will seek their input before confirming a final date and venue choices.
- Career Planning and Coaching
- Networking and Mentoring
- Job Search/Employer Expectations
- Career Planning Review
